Holcomb Creek Falls Trail
Wow! What a great hike to see some beautiful waterfalls with lots of noisy, rushing water just a few days after significant rains. The trail was in mostly good condition, having only a few passable blowdowns. This was a moderately difficult hike. It was unfortunate the observation deck for Ammons Creek Falls was not usable, but with care, one could venture out onto the boulders in the creek to get a great view of the falls. The last third of the hike was back along Hale Ridge Road.

Holcomb Creek Falls . . . what a beaut! Enough with the pictures! Nice trail overall. But there were a few passable deadfalls. The bridge over Holcomb Creek with a great view of the falls The view up and down Holcomb Creek Falls Some very large older growth trees along this trail. With the viewing bridge & platform destroyed, it's bit of a trick to get over to the rocks below Ammons Falls. Ammons Falls was impressive, especially with the large volume of water flowing today. There are two more smaller falls between Holcomb Creek Falls and the Upper Holcomb Creek Falls that we heard, but could not safely get to. A massive rock wall on our way to complete this loop hike. What struck some of us as curious was with the numerous rapids and slides above Holcomb Creek Falls... how there would be sections of the creek that were seemingly very calm.
