White Twister Trail and Stonewall Falls
near Tiger, GA
It was a warm and humid morning, but not raining, making it a "great day for a hike." This was a an easy hike with just a few short ups and downs. The trail was damp, but in good condition with just a few blow-downs. There was a fair amount of water flowing down Stonewall Creek resulting in a scenic waterfall with lots of pleasant rushing water sounds along the way. Not a lot of wildflowers today, but a few individual exceptions including a beautiful triple Lady Slipper toward the end of the hike. A bit weathered trail sign for a very nice trail. Today's Hikers (L-R): Heather with Toby, Allyson, Beth, Cindy, Bobbie, Ken with Cutie Pie, Angela, Mike, Jenny, Vic, Bruce & Jeanne Headed down the road to the trailhead. Photo by Heather. It was a Mountain Laurel kind of day . . . everywhere along this trail. A few Yellow Star Grass, too. See what I mean. More Mountain Laurel. Bruce encouraging Jeanne up this hill. Cutie Pie is so easy-going when hiking. Just wondering. Why was this old concrete bunker-looking structure pushed over along the trail? Interesting collection of painted rocks at a trail intersection. Further down the trail: Top: Longleaf summer bluet; LR: Blackberry; LL: Partridgeberry A nice collection of Cinnamon Ferns as we neared Stonewall Creek. Just a couple of photos of Stonewall Creek along the lower section of the trail. Lucky to catch Heather's Toby sitting still . . . lots of puppy energy. We spotted this very nice Lady Slipper toward the end of the hike. Bruce is serious about getting a good pic of this Nodding Trillium. We met TJ Fingulin along the trail who was returning from Reishi Mushroom gathering. He processes them for medicinal products sold at the Clayton Farmer's Market on weekends. Ah, Stonewall Falls. Just a nice place to take a break at the end of the hike. You've got to love Bobbie's new hiking shoes.
