Today's hike was on the Bartram Trail in Rabun County, GA from the Highway 28 bridge hiking southward toward Willis Knob. - 8+ miles total hike.
TRAIL INFO. - This portion of the Bartram Trail is in extreme northeast Rabun County GA at the SC state line along the Chattooga River. We hiked southward towards Willis Knob for 4 miles and retuned for a mostly easy 8+ mile hike.
DIRECTIONS: FROM CLAYTON, GA TAKE WARWOMAN ROAD EASTWARD FOR 13 MILES TO HIGHWAY 28 AND BEAR RIGHT AND CONTINUE FOR 2 MILES TO THE PARKING LOT ON THE LEFT JUST BEFORE THE HWY 28 BRIDGE.
Another great day for a hike! Sunny and cool with temperatures ranging from the Upper 50's to the upper 60's F.
WILDFLOWERS IN BLOOM: Goldenrod, Blue Lobelia, Turtleheads, White Snakeroot, Blue Wood Aster, Joe Pye Weed, Coreopsis, Green Headed Coneflower and Black-eyed Susan. BIRDS IDENTIFIED: Crow, Pileated Woodpecker, Carolina Chic-a-dee, , Carolina Wren, Gold Finch, Belted Kingfisher.

Trailhead parking on the GA side of Highway 28 bridge. Info. sign near the start. Another great day for a hike! View from the footbridge across the West Fork Chattooga River. Our group on the footbridge over the West Fork. The old abandoned hay baler near a farm homesite on the river. I940's. The remains of the old homesite! Beautiful old tree at the homesite! We pass by some giant White Pines. Blue Lobelias were blooming all along the trail today. We took a short hike off of the Bartram Trail down to Adeline Ford on the river for lunch. Lunchtime at Adeline Ford. We saw several American Euonymus (Hearts-a-burstin) along the trail. The OFHC gang for today's hike.
