Mount Yonah Trail
near Cleveland, GA
Another beautiful day for a hike with cool fall temperatures. The trail was extremely dry and somewhat slippery from the leaves, loose rocks and heavy use. There are several sections requiring some rock-hopping, but despite the 1,500 feet of climbing, this is just a moderately difficult hike. We did enjoy some clear views with some fall colors from several overlooks around the summit.

Our goal today, Mount Yonah, showing some fall color. Today's hikers (L-R): Renee, Jenny, Edwin, Jack, Cindy, Matt, Lynn, Mike, Pam, Cutie-Pie, Ken, Shelia, Gita & Jackie. Not shown: Stephanie & Trail Dog Toby. Off we go! A nice bridge to cross a deep drainage swale. A few sets of rock steps have been installed along the way. But the trail also has its challenges as Stephanie and Gita find in climbing through this rock outcrop. But if you can take the time to look up or through the canopy, there are sights that make the less than great trail worth the effort. Cutie Pie seems to always enjoy these hikes. A nice view to the west from the old helicopter landing zone midway up the mountain. This bright orange Maple Tree showing off further up the trail. Toby also seemed to enjoy the hike today.
