Smith Creek Trail
near Unicoi State Park
We tried to complete a one-way hike on the Smith Creek Trail to Anna Ruby Falls, but the parking area at Anna Ruby Falls was closed so we changed our plans to this out-and-back hike up Smith Creek Trail. It was a nice day for a hike and the trail was not terribly difficult except for a couple of downed trees and some trail obstructions that were passable. The leaf-fall did require us to watch our step closely though. The leaf colors in the canopy were quite pretty and the sound of Smith Creek along the trail was pleasant to hear for much of our hike.

Smith Creek - not spectacular, but still nice to hear while hiking. Today's Hikers (L-R): Jack, Stephanie, Ray, Dick, Angela, Gerald, Lynn, Jenny, Christine, Gary, Edwin & Mike So how are we going to do this? Well I think this is the right way! Yep, this is the way! Down we go! The first bridge over Smith Creek. You put your right foot in and you shake it all about. You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around. That's what it's all about! All right, who said that? Seriously!!! Not again. First to two major obsticles. Second major trail blockage. "That hurt!" says Stephanie after her knee didn't like climbing through that downed tree. Vic? Where's Vic? I didn't see him. There were some fall colors along this trail, but you did have to look for them. Not a lot of fungus showing off today. Just these. "I don't know about that!"
