A very nice day for a hike with clear sunny skies and temperatures between 55-70°F The trails were in very good condition with no blowdowns as we have encountered in recent hikes elsewhere. However, the loose rocks and roots were covered by a layer of fallen leaves which required close attention. The beaver dams normally seen were not obvious, a disappointment. There were numerous short hills to climb or descend along the entire path and thus this trail is rated easy to moderate in difficulty. The fall color has now faded to brown leaves. Garmin recorded this hike as 6.4 miles.

The first fish lake at the start of the Perimeter (Orange) Trail. Generally wide trails. Time to transition onto the Broad River Loop Trail Quite a few small creeks along the way, all with nice bridges. Not quite the native animals we were hoping to see, but these critters were along the trail nevertheless. Views of the Broad River at our lunch stop. Lunch Time! Fire Ball anyone? No beaver dams anywhere in sight today. Atop the beaver dam observation tower. Not many plants that caught our eye today, but the Yucca plants were somewhat of a surprise. Crossing Rice Creek . .
